Launching on 31 August 2020, the new kerbside service will introduce a food scraps bin and two separate wheelie bins for collecting rubbish and recycling. The existing recycling crates will be used for glass only.
From 3 June 2020 Hamilton City Council will deliver recycling, rubbish and food scraps bins to all residential properties in the collection area in a staggered drop-off, suburb by suburb. Leaflets will be delivered with the bins (inside the food scraps bin). More detailed information booklets and collection calendars will be sent out soon.
Under the new system, food scraps will be collected weekly, and rubbish, recycling and glass fortnightly. The new kerbside service will reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill and help to keep our streets cleaner.
Please keep using your black bags and crates until the new kerbside service starts on 31 August 2020.
